Talking to mediapersons at his residence here on Friday, Singhal made a scathing attack on the Congress and secular forces, charging them with ‘hypocrisy and doublespeak’ on the Ram temple issue. Referring to Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati’ s recent activities on Ram temple construction, the VHP leader described him as a Congress agent and said the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas Darshak Mandal had disassociated itself from his November 30 programme of Ram Mandir Parikrama in Ayodhya. He said the resolution on Ayodhya, passed in the Darshak Mandal meeting in Ayodhya few weeks back had made it very clear that the temple construction would take place only at the sanctum sanctorum (Grabha Griha).

Mosque would not be allowed to be constructed within the border of the original temple and the mosque should not carry Babar’s name. The temple construction would be carried out on the basis of Nagari style under the aegis of Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and none other, said Singhal. The VHP will organise a Sankalp Diwas at Ayodhya on November 19 in which more than 25,000 devotees and 3000 saints would take part to decide further course of action, said Singhal.

The proposed action plan on Ayodhya had been designed to unite Hindus across the country to participate in the Ram-Janmabhoomi movement. All 700 Khalsas of Ramanand Sect would gather on November 20 to decide the construction of Ram temple with the amount donated by crores of people, he said.

Later, a country-wide Sanklap programme will be organised between December 1 and 6 to generate public opinion on temple construction. In Allahabad this programme will be organised on December 1. Under the aegis of VHP, a grand three-day Vishwa Hindu Sammelan will be held during the Ardha Kumbh Mela at Prayag between February 11 to 13, Singhal said. Lakhs of Hindus, saints and 100 representatives of various temples across the world would take part in it, he added. He said he had met CM Mulayam Singh Yadav who had assured him to do the needful for the conference. He said a good section of leaders in both Congress and Samajwadi Party was in favour of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He came down heavily on HRD Minister Arjun Singh for spoiling the Indian culture by changing the school text books.

Urging Muslims to support the construction of Ram Temple, the VHP leader said it was in their interests to support the issue. If they opposed it, it would not make much of a difference to the temple movement, he said.
