A spate of road accidents in the city left six persons dead and 19 others injured since Thursday, police officials said in Gorakhpur.
Two persons, Tej Bahadur (55) and Ramkesh (42), died on the spot when they were crushed by a speeding vehicle in Pipiganj police station area on Friday. One person got seriously in the incident.
In another accident which occurred in Shyamdeorwa area, one Mayank, travelling in a bus with his head dangling outside, died after his head was smashed by another vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night in the medical college hospital.
Siyaram (60), resident of Babhnauli village in Kaptanganj died in the medical college after his collision with a motorcycle while crossing the road.
In a separate incident, a girl aged four and one Ramsamujh (50) were rushed to the medical college but succumbed to their injuries after they got seriously injured in a road accident.
According to police sources, a van carrying PAC jawans overturned while saving a bicycle rider in Khorabar police station area of the district on Thursday evening. The van was returning to Deoria after dropping the jailed BSP leader Jamuna Nishad to BRD Medical College for treatment. The seriously injured jawans were later referred to the medical college.
Also, nine members of a marriage party were injured when their bus fell in a ditch in Sahjanwa police station area.
