Slain trader?s kin claim hand of Nagwa villagers

RULING OUT the Bawaria gang’s involvement, as claimed by the police, behind the murder of bullion traders at Yashoda Nagar on Friday last, Natharam Verma, the father of the deceased trader Devendra Verma, has claimed that the miscreants were from Nagwa village and were not members of Bawaria gang.

Natharam said that on Saturday evening, a day after the dacoity took place, local people had seen about six people fleeing towards Nagwa village at around 4.30 am. They also pelted stones at passerby and also thrashed a labourer who had spotted them.

Verma also stated that local women (a labourer) also raised an alarm when miscreants pelted stones on them. Even then, the Station Officer of Kurian police station, who was then sleeping at Mulayam Singh Degree College did not come out to the rescue of the labourer. More so, when the people complained to him about the activities of miscreants, he advised them not to report the matter to the local police station, as they might also be implicated in the case.

Later, brother of the deceased allegedly also narrated the entire incident to the SO Naubasta police station but he also took no action.
