Hate speeches continue to dominate the headlines in the run up to Lok Sabha 2014 elections.
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA threatened Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi, saying they should be stripped and sent back to Italy if the BJP came to power.
Heeralal Regar allegedly made the comment while addressing a rally in Rajasthan's Tonk.
"Sonia and Rahul Gandhi should be stripped off their clothes and sent back to Italy," he said.
In a telephonic interview to CNN-IBN, Regar apologised for his comment and said he had been misquoted.
"I have not taken any name. If anyone is hurt by my comments, I apologise," Regar said.
Last week, Congress' Saharanpur candidate Imraan Masood had threatened to "chop Narendra Modi into pieces", inviting sharp criticism from the BJP, which termed the remark as "inflammatory" and sought strict action by the Election Commission.
