"Security arrangements are being stepped up in the district in view of the coming visit of the Congress leaders," officials said.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are scheduled to visit Amethi on December 22 to take part in a programme organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Project being run by the Rajiv Gandhi trust, K S Yadav, Manager of the project said today.

The programme will be attended by the members of fifteen thousand women groups which fall under the ambit of the project, Yadav said.

At present more than 1,80,000 women from 12 districts of the state are associated with the project which was inaugurated by Gandhi in April 2002.
