Sonia's involvement proved: Agrawal
The ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh today alleged that the involvement of Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the "cash-for-MLAs" episode in the state was "proved" with the withdrawal of suspension of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and making him a party candidate.
"Although CBI is investigating the matter, the withdrawal of suspension and fielding Jogi in Lok Sabha elections, proved by itself that the conspiracy for defection in BJP was engineered with the consent of Gandhi," state Home Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal told reporters here at the BJP state headquarters Ekatma Parishar.
Reacting sharply to the withdrawal of suspension and fielding Jogi from Mahasamund, the senior BJP leader claimed there is taped conversation in which Jogi had confessed that he was doing all with the consent of her party leader and he was also suspended for misutilising the name of Gandhi.
Jogi's return to the party has proved that Congress has embraced corruption, terror and fear, he said.
Earlier it was decided to highlight achievements of both the Centre and the state BJP government, but with Jogi in fray his "reign of terror and corruption will be the main issues", the minister added.
