Sopore encounter claims life of an Indian Army captain

An Army captain, who was injured in an encounter with militants in Sopore town of Baramulla district, succumbed to his injuries today.

An Army captain, who was injured in an encounter with militants in Sopore town of Baramulla district, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. The army officer was injured when militants opened indiscriminate fire on security forces in the midst of an operation in Model Town area of Sopore, 52 kms from Srinagar on Tuesday evening.

The captain was shifted to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar, for treatment where he succumbed to his wounds. The Army is yet to release his identity. The encounter is still on and at least two Lashkar militants are suspected to be hiding in a house in the area.
