Ganguly, who had undergone a minor surgery for the same problem on Tuesday in Chandigarh, was admitted to a private hospital on Saturday morning where the doctors performed an immediate operation in order to make him fit before the begining of one-day tri-series involving India, New Zealand and Australia begining on October 23.

"Ganguly is now ok. He is now under bed rest in the hospital," Doctor M Nandi, who operated on the Indian skipper said.

Ganguly had returned to the city on Friday night complaining of pain in the affected area.
