The cause of murder is stated to be the fallout of an old enmity related to the panchayat election. The slain man was the brother of the present village chief of Launda. Arshad was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne miscreants in Pachferwa village in Chandauli on Friday. Soon after his murder, his supporters attacked some houses of a particular community in the village. Violent mob also set some houses on fire. No one was injured in the violence.

Later, jawans of police and PAC rushed the spot and controlled over the situation. Meanwhile, mortal remains of slain Arshad, were buried in a graveyard at Chandauli on Tuesday.

According to information, Arshad was going to Mughalsarai on his motorcycle from his village at around 3 pm. As he neared the village Pachferwa a youth, standing on the divider suddenly opened several shots on him. After sustaining bullet, Arshad slumped to the floor, in the meantime, an assailant sat on the pillion on another motorcycle and fled the scene. The deceased is survived by his wife and five minor children.

Locals suspect that Arshad’s brother Khurshid, had won the recent election of village chief by defeating his nearest rival Bachu Lal Yadav by over a margin of 117 votes. Arshad had done much for victory of his brother. Abu Zafar, elder brother of slain, Arshad had been also killed at the village in 1988.
