SP asks Govt to declare 50 districts in states as drought hit

Samajwadi Party on Monday asked the Uttar Pradesh government to declare 50 districts of the state as drought hit and provide financial assistance to the farmers of such areas.

"Atleast 50 districts of the state have received meagre rainfall due to which condition there is becoming bad to worse with each passing day. We demand from the state government to declare all these districts as drought hit," SP State President Akhilesh Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.

He said that the state government was not doing enough in this regard and if sufficient steps are not taken in this regard then SP will hold an agitation.
