Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, SP State president Gauri Singh Yadav said the party strongly condemned the US action and would be submitting memorandums to the president to this effect. Demonstrations and effigies would be carried out in all districts of the country.

In Bhopal, dharnas, demonstrations and effigy burning would be held at Roshanpura Square in the presence of the State president Yadav, State general secretary Munawwar Salim and MLA Narayan Tripathi among others.

Directives would also be issued to all districts to mark the day at district headquarters, Yadav said. Yadav said the USA action of getting former Iraqi president hanged by his own people raised a lot of questions at the international level and clearly displayed the US’s dictatorial attitude.

Munawwar Salim, who was also present at the press conference, said given India’s recent proximity to US, the country was also open to any future action from the US that might threaten the sovereignty of the country.

No decision on resignation
MORE THAN a month after both SP office-bearers Gauri Singh Yadav and Munawwar Salim submitted their resignations following the debacle in the Budhni by-elections, a decision is yet to be taken by the national president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The office bearers said they were still working on their respective posts as per the directives of the national president but refused to divulge whether their resignations were rejected.

“The national president would be in better position to comment on that,’’ Yadav said. They reiterated on Tuesday that they took the step on their own accord and maintained that they would take their next action as per the directive of the national leadership
