The accused had bungled over Rs 5 crore by various fraudulent means at many levels in Sendhwa Janpad Panchayat in 2010. The said amount was deposited in 22 village panchayats' fake accounts, but was drawn by the accused without doing any work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

IG Vipin Maheshwari gave directives to investigating officers of the case in daylong annual review meeting held at Barwani district headquarters. Maheshwari said he has directed Sendhwa sub-divisional officer of police MS Thakur to investigate the scam thoroughly.
