A young life was snuffed away due to reckless driving of a private bus driver on Lowther Road in front of MLN Medical College on Monday morning. Twenty-year-old Sushmita Srivastava was heading for Chowk on her Scooty to buy clothes on the occasion of her aunt's marriage scheduled for December 12 when her Scooty was hit by a bus from the side on Lowther Road. She fell down and collapsed on the spot due to brain hemorrhage. Sushmita was taken to the emergency ward of the SRN Hospital but was declared brought dead.

Sushmita was taken to the emergency ward of the SRN Hospital but was declared brought dead. A student of B Com Part II at Jagat Taran Girls' Degree College under Allahabad University, Sushmita was also reportedly pursuing MCA course from an institute in Civil Lines.
Sources said, Sushmita had tried to save a lady who had suddenly come on her way when the bus passing in great speed hit her.
The bus driver tried to flee with the vehicle but was stopped by students near Kulbhaskar Ashram Degree College. He reportedly ran away but the bus was damaged by angry students. They even tried to set it ablaze.
She was the eldest daughter of Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, Junior Engineer in the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation who lives in Gallabazar under Colonelganj police station. Her father is posted in Mau Aima and mother Sushma is a primary school teacher.
A pall of gloom struck the household and her college after the news broke out. Family members, relatives and friends rushed to the hospital only to find her dead.
