Speeding truck runs over three in Ratlam

Three persons including a nine-year-old child were crushed to death when a truck ran over them in Rajapura in Ratlam on Monday. Over a dozen persons sustained injuries in this mishap.

Three persons including a nine-year-old child were crushed to death while 12 persons were injured when a truck ran over them in Rajapura are in Ratlam on Monday.

The incident took place at around 3 pm on Monday when 15 persons were sitting in front of their houses at Rajapura area, about 40-kms north of Ratlam district headquarters under the Rajapura police station limit.

The over-speeding truck ran over them, killing three persons on the spot and injuring the rest. The deceased are Mukesh Jivana (22), Babu Ketting (65) and Hurta Hakla (9), all belonging to Chikani village.

Twelve persons who were seriously injured were admitted to the district hospital in Ratlam. Ratlam sub-divisional magistrate Sunil Jha reached the spot and took stock of situation as soon as the incident occurred.

Jha said an exgratia amount of `15,000 had been handed over to the relatives of deceased persons and `7,500 to the injured persons.
