FINALLY TAKING a step towards take over of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Degree College (SPMDC), the Allahabad University (AU) has formally issued a notification designating it as a full-fledged constituent college of the varsity.
FINALLY TAKING a step towards take over of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Degree College (SPMDC), the Allahabad University (AU) has formally issued a notification designating it as a full-fledged constituent college of the varsity.

The notification— No. 3(XI)/Registrar/413/2006 and dated November 24,— issued by the AU registrar Firdous A Wani, stated, “It is hereby notified for information of all concerned that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Degree College, Allahabad shall be the constituent college, as resolved by the Executive Council in its meeting on March21, 2006, vide Resolution 10, and as enumerated in Statute 31(11) of the statutes of the university set out in the schedule as provided under section 28(1) of the University of Allahabad Act, 2005 (No. 26 of 2005).”
The copies of the notification have been sent to Union Ministry of HRD, University Grants Commission, all the deans (Arts/Commerce/Law/Medicine/Science), DSW, dean (CDC), secretary (Higher Education), UP, besides all heads of departments and AU finance officer besides other officials concerned. The notification is expected to speed up the development work and improvement of infrastructure in the college.
Hailing the move, AU Executive Council member Sunit Vyas said it would usher in a new era of improvement and development in the college and fulfils the dream as envisioned in the University of Allahabad Act.
Univ magazine demanded
AU students’ union publication secretary, Kalpana demanded for publication of a university magazine containing cultural, political and academic activities in the varsity besides providing details of the facilities provided to students. Kalpana said she had sent letters to the V-C, registrar and dean students welfare, asking for the publication of a university magazine as is done in other central universities.
She has also demanded financial assistance from AU finance officer for publishing 1000 more copies of AU students union magazine ‘Sambhawna.
