Talking to the journalists here today, Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said the objective of providing financial support to the game is to keep alive the traditional games of the country.
“The department is committed to giving proper support to all games,” said Scindia. The schemes point out that any association that runs malkhamb for atleat five years and having regular minimum 50 trainers may get the affiliation from the Sports Department.
Besides, the association should have 15X15 sqm hall, deposit of at least Rs 10,000 in the bank for buying equipment are eligible for the affiliation.
The department will provide maximum Rs 30,000 assistance to the associations that have the deposit of at least Rs 10,000.
The interested associations who abide by the eligibility may submit the application for the affiliation from the Sports Department by explaining the audit of last three years, affiliation certificate of MP Malkhamb Association and registration papers.
In the first stage, the Sports Department will establish the malkhamb centres at the divisional-level including Betul, Sagar, Seoni, Shivpuri, Mandsaur, and Khargone.
Director Sports Sanjay Chaudhary, who was also present at the press conference said the department will provide all the necessary support in developing this game.
For establishing the centre at the divisional, the Sports Department will provide the land. Joint Director Dr Vinod Pradhan and others were present at the press conference.
