THE STAGE is all set for the three-day religious fair, rathyatra mela scheduled to be held from Tuesday to Thursday here in rathyatra area.

As part of the preparations, idols of Lord Jaggannath, Subhadra and Balbhadra were brought from Jaggannath Temple in Assi area to rathyatra area on Monday for the fair.
The devotees had performed ‘Jalabhiyan’ of Lord Jaggannath, Subhadra and Balbhadra on June 11 and were confined to the temple for 15 days. The idols of all the three deities would be placed on a chariot (rath) for public viewing from Tuesday. All religious activities would be performed under the supervision of Acharya Sri Ram.
Meanwhile, makeshift shops of nankhatai (traditional sweet), toys, gift items, edibles etc. have been set up in Rathyatra area in the wake of the mela.
