Star campaigners to visit Varanasi
STAR CAMPAIGNERS of different political parties are likely to visit Varanasi after Diwali and Id to woo voters for the local bodies election. To pep up the Samajwadi Party (SP) campaign, cine star and Member of Parliament from Rampur Jaya Prada was likely to visit Varanasi and address a series of public meetings here after Diwali, said SP City president Rakesh Jain.
STAR CAMPAIGNERS of different political parties are likely to visit Varanasi after Diwali and Id to woo voters for the local bodies election.
To pep up the Samajwadi Party (SP) campaign, cine star and Member of Parliament from Rampur Jaya Prada was likely to visit Varanasi and address a series of public meetings here after Diwali, said SP City president Rakesh Jain.
However, the date of her visit has not been finalised. Besides Jaya Prada, other State level leaders of the SP, such as Shiv Pal Singh Yadav and Azam Khan will also address public meetings.
The Congress, too, will rope in Bollywood stars and senior party leaders. Actor and MP Govinda will visit Varanasi on October 28.
Congress City president Rais Ahmed said Govinda would participate in road shows and address public meetings in Varanasi on October 28.
“Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal, Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz, Rashid Alvi and Pramod Tiwari will also visit the city to garner support for the Congress candidates.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will rope in several state and national level leaders.
Meanwhile, the process for allotment of symbols to candidates for the posts of panchayat member and Gangapur Nagar Panchayat chairman got under way on Wednesday.
Four candidates are in the fray for the chairman’s post.
The Rashtriya Samanta Dal’s Ramesh Chand was allotted the car and Congress candidate Dilip Seth got the hand. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Anil Seth was allotted the ‘lotus’, while Samajwadi Party candidate Vijay Kumar was alloted the ‘cycle’.
As many as 34 candidates are in the fray for the Panchayat members’ election against 10 seats in the Gangapur Nagar Panchayat election. Ten Congress candidates for the post of panchayat member were allotted the hand as their election symbol.
Ten Samajwadi Party candidates were allotted the cycle. Similarly, six candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were allotted the lotus, and seven candidates of the Rashtriya Samanta Dal were allotted the car.
An Independent candidate was allotted the kite as his election symbol.
