The 13-year-old daughter of a Bangladesh film star flung herself from the roof of a six-storey school building minutes after being accused of cheating in an examination, police said on Monday.
Bushra Ahmed Wasim, the only daughter of film star Wasim jumped from the roof of the exclusive school in the capital Dhaka on Sunday.
"She was taken to the teachers' room after she was found cheating in the examination. But she took permission to go to the washroom from where she went straight to the rooftop and jumped," said local police chief Mahbub Alam Khan.
Wasim, 60, who uses one name, made his name in the 1970s and 1980s as a leading man in more than 400 films.
Bushra was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival, Khan added.
Cheating in public exams, often with the complicity of teachers, is widespread in Bangladesh.
In 2002, junior education minister Ehsanul Haq Milon took to flying around the country in a helicopter to pay surprise visits to schools in an attempt to stamp out the practice.c
