Flash mobs of Indian dancers
Flash mobs of Indian dancers, Bollywood stars hounded by autograph-seeking fans and the world premiere of Double Dhamaal kicked off the IIFA awards in Ontario, Canada, on Thursday. However, it was Slumdog Millionaire actor Anil Kapoor who drew the loudest cheer on the green carpet. Actor Mallika Sherawat was seen conversing with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. “I just want to enjoy and have a great time,” she was heard saying about her debut visit to the awards.

Meanwhile, the organisers revealed that it was not due to any animosity but the pregnancy of actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan which apparently made the Bachchans skip the event. And if buzz is to be believed, they will be back in full force next year, which might
happen in Melbourne, Australia. Agencies

Quick bites from IIFA
Late pop singer Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson was upbeat about performing with Indian singer Sonu Nigam at the IIFA, and says his family is a fan of Bollywood. “Me and my family members are true lovers of Bollywood, especially its music and dance,” says Jermaine, who performed with Sonu at the IIFA Rocks — a music and fashion event which was held at the Ricoh Coliseum on Friday night, the eve of Michael’s second death anniversary.

Anil’s jaadu ki jhappi for McGuinty
Canadian political leader from Ontario, Dalton McGuinty feels that a hug from Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor could turn around his political fortunes. “The last time I met Anil Kapoor, he gave me a hug and that hug made me popular with Indians,” McGuinty said. Ontario has the second largest Indian diaspora in the world, topping 6 million out of a total population of 13 million. “I have told Anil that there’s an election coming up in the fall and my slogan is: I’m with Kapoor.’ So I hope he’ll be on board,” McGuinty added.

Where is Shah Rukh Khan?
While a host of Bollywood actors have arrived for the IIFA Weekend in Canada Shah Rukh Khan’s absence left fans wondering. To put their curiosities to rest SRK tweeted on Friday morning, “Have a 14 hour flt to toronto. Dharamji for company & beautiful ladies pampering me.

I find solace on planes & m.r.I. Machines.. Flt delayed due to some issue...2 hrs overdue & no take off in sight. Have waved out to
handlers thrice already even they have left for home (sic)”. Shah Rukh will be performing at the IIFA after a gap of seven years.
