At $50 million dollars the Indian Fashion industry is still in its embryonic stage.
It is a small part of the Indian clothing industry, which is worth over 12 billion dollars and growing at a rate of 20 per cent per annum.
As fashion grows into big business and Indian designers make their mark on the international arena, multinational store chains are stocking Indian designer wear.
As the momentum builds there is a realisation that Indian Fashion also needs to take time out to recognise and honour its talent, thereby setting benchmarks for a new generation of designers to follow.
