Talking to mediapersons, president of State Employees’ Joint Council (SEJC), Amarnath Yadav and general secretary Ramjee Awasthi said that house allowance and city allowance were left out at the time of merger of 50 per cent dearness allowance in the basic salaries of State employees.

Both the employees’ leaders were here in Varanasi to attend the workers’ convention of SEJC.

They claimed that SIJC is the biggest recognised organisation of the third and fourth class employees of the State government.

They said that the State government’s third and fourth class employees were getting equal house allowance at par with the Central government employees in 1981 but at present, the difference between the house allowance of State government employees and Central government employees had increased considerably.

They said that their organisation had urged the chief secretary to order immediate payment of city allowance and house allowance which was left out.

They alleged that bureaucrats of the State were misleading the State government on this issue.

They said that SEJC had submitted a 12-point charter of demands to the chief secretary Naveen Vajpayee on April 28. They further added that chief secretary had assured them to fulfill their demands.

Both the leaders warned if the State government did not fulfill their demands till June 17, they would launch a massive agitation and in this regard, a meeting of 250 organisations affiliated with the SEJC would be organised on June 18 to chalk out the future course of strategy for the agitation.
