State Olympics from June 4

SPORTS AND Youth Welfare Department in association with the MP State Olympic Association (MPOA) will organise State Olympics in the City from June 4.

According director sports Sanjay Chaudhary, the competitions will be organised in two stages. In the first stage that will start from June 4, games including judo, taekwondo, wrestling, swimming, gymnastics, athletics, weightlifting and water sports will be organised.

The second stage to start from June 7 games including hockey, kabaddi, football, kho-kho, basketball, volleyball and handball will be organised.

Recently, the department invited office-bearers of MPOA to discuss on sports improvement in the State. During the meeting it was decided to organise State Olympic games and select talented players.

The department will train the selected players. The department expects participation of 1,500 players from across the State. Selected players from this competition will be trained for the National Games to be organised in Guwahati later this year.
