Stone Age act: Man attacks 11-year-old daughter who refuses to quit studying
Angry over his 11-year-old daughter's determination to continue her education, a man allegedly hit her on the head with a stone at a village in Madhya Pradesh. The Class 5 student is undergoing treatment and is reported to be out of danger.
A man in Madhya Pradesh has allegedly singed his 11-year-old daughter’s cheeks and hit her with a rock for refusing to quit studies. The incident took place in Betul district, around 175 km southwest of capital city Bhopal, after the Class 5 student returned from school on Friday.
The girl, identified as Roshani, is undergoing treatment at Betul district hospital. Dinesh Uike, the accused, is at large.
Roshani said her father mistreated her for going to school. He wanted the girl to quit studies and sell woods. “At times, he would make me starve all day,” Roshani said, tears rolling down her cheeks.
After the incident, Roshani was brought to the hospital by a relative, who reportedly left in a hurry on the pretext of bringing her mother along.
No family member of the girl, however, has since come to visit her in the hospital. Family members of other patients are looking after the girl, who has been crying continuously.
Police said a case had been registered against the father and search was on to nab him.
