A STUDENT from Bihar died of a heart attack and many others sustained serious injuries when a clash ensued between villagers and students from various states in Shivpur Diyar village on Saturday.
These students came to Ballia to take the UP Board exams in Bhagmani Devi Inter College in Shivpur Diyar only to find that they were cheated by the college authorities. The students were not registered with the Board and no admit cards were issued, though a hefty sum was charged from them.
Police registered a case against principal Badri Prasad Prajapati, Kajan Singh, Manoj Pandey and Ravindra Yadav of Bhagmani Devi Inter College for charging Rs. 5,000 from each of the 1,260 outstation students, promising them help in the exams. The agitated students who had damaged the school building were fuming and claimed that they would go to any extent to recover their money.
In another incident, criminals and parents attacked the vehicle of the principal of Amar Shahid KK Inter College. They damaged the vehicle, injuring the principal and five teachers for preventing the use of unfair means in the examination.
The injured were rushed to Sonbarsa Primary Health Centre where one teacher was referred to Varanasi for further treatment. According to reports, first these people shooed away the policemen and tried forcibly enter the examination centre but when the principal and teachers intervened, they withdrew, issuing threats. Later, they attacked the vehicle of principal Arun Kumar Misra on Suremanpur Bairia Road and attacked the principal and others.
