The agitated students were demanding immediate arrest of SP activists, who tried to disturb peace on the varsity campus, on Sunday.

A large number of students under the leadership of students’ union president Ramakant Pandey took out a procession from the varsity campus and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and a State minister, Virendra Singh, in front of the SSU main gate.

They warned to launch a massive agitation if the district administration failed to arrest SP activists.

Keeping in view Sunday’s incident at the varsity, the university administration imposed a complete ban on entry of outsiders into the campus.

As per directives of SSU V-C Prof Ashok Kumar Kalia, the chief proctor of varsity, Dr Kedar Nath Tripathi has issued a notice for complete ban on entry of outsiders into the varsity campus.

It may be mentioned that the varsity administration had imposed a partial ban on the entry of outsiders into the varsity campus for a morning walk. As per this order, varsity administration had allowed outsiders above 50 years to enter the varsity campus for morning walk.

But after the attempt of SP activists to enter into varsity campus forcibly on Sunday, the varsity administration has imposed a complete ban on the entry of outsiders into the varsity campus. Elaborate security arrangements have been ensured on the campus to avoid any untoward incident. District magistrate Rajeev Agarwal has ordered a magisterial inquiry to investigate the matter.

It may be mentioned that more than half-a-dozen students and activists of the Samajwadi Party (SP) were injured at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (SSU) on Sunday when both parties entered into a scuffle and pelted stones on each other on the issue of entry into the varsity campus. Several university employees were also injured in the incident.
