ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) students observed black day on Tuesday, took out a procession and stopped the admission process at Pravesh Bhawan. The students demanded to revoke the decision of reduction of seats in the varsity, implementation of the Central fee structure and reduction in hostel fee.

Led by student leader Abhishek Shukla and Dr Nirbhay Singh Patel students took a procession on the campus shouting slogans against the AU administration, V-C and the chief proctor before stopping the admission process at the Pravesh Bhawan.
Shukla urged the chief proctor to take immediate action against reduction in seats, implement the Central fee structure within 24 hours.
The chief proctor assured the students to discuss with the authorities and come to a decision on these issues. The student leaders also demanded the authorities to lift restrictions on staging dharnas and protests within the varsity campus.
Those present on the occasion were Ripusoodan Yadav, Sunil Dwivedi, Zia Kaunen Rizvi, Anand Singh, Mohit Patel, Durgesh Pandey, Irshad Ullah, Lala Ram Saroj, Ajit Bhaskar, Chandrika Patel, Umesh Upadhyay, Shashikant Mishra, Shartool Samrat Singh, Aditya Vikram, Santlal Verma, Sandeep Yadav, Ravikant Mishra, Vinay Shukla and Chandrashekhar Patel among others.
Meanwhile, the pro-reservationist students burnt the effigy of chief proctor Prof Jata Shankar Tiwari and continued their relay fast for the 13th day on Tuesday.
The students demanded resignation of the chief proctor against the orders not to stage any demonstration on the campus. Student leaders Pravesh Singh Yadav and Savindra Yadav burnt the effigy of the chief proctor at the venue of their demonstration and called him to be inspired by feudalistic ideology. The student leaders demanded his resignation and charged him for depriving the student of fundamental rights.
Student leader Ripusoodan Yadav urged the pro-reservationist leaders make preparations for going to Delhi. Yadav said that contact programmes were being carried out across the State to garner support for demonstration at Delhi. He said that several leaders from AU would leave for Delhi on May 11 and assurance has been given by several leaders across the country to support the demonstration in support of reservation.
