It is not everyone's cup of tea.

One can start working as early as the age of 18.

It is not a 9-to-5 job and you don't wear a stuffy jacket and tie to work.

One makes a neat financial packet.

One gets to travel to different parts of the world.

Because the divers experience so much more at such an early age in their lives, they do not get easily rattled with challenges in later life.

Minuses:

One has to be careful not to catch decompression illness.

Long periods of absence from home can be trying.

Work can be physically strenuous and mentally taxing.
