Sukma Collector Menon meets Jayalalithaa

Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon, who was recently set free by Maoists after 12 days of captivity in Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday met Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa and thanked her for urging the Centre to take steps for his release.

Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon, who was recently set free by Maoists after 12 days of captivity in Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday met Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa and thanked her for urging the Centre to take steps for his release.



Menon, an IAS officer from Tamil Nadu, met the chief minister at the Secretariat and expressed his gratitude, an official release said.

Jayalalithaa had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to take immediate steps to secure the early release of Menon, who was kidnapped on April 21 in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh.

Menon, who hails from Tirunelveli district, was released by the Maoists on May 3.
