Hot and happening Sameera Reddy, the youngest of the Reddy sisters (the other two being Sushama and Meghana), is riding high on the success of Taxi No 9 2 11. One look at Sameera makes heads turn. However, few know that Sameera had to really work hard to shed her baby fat when she decided to debut in films. The lissome lass shares her fitness mantra with us.

How does your day begin?
I start my day with a glass of coconut water followed by a papaya, a couple of oranges and figs. I prefer to eat fruits in the morning.

How do you maintain your diet?
Even if I have a shoot, I carry food from home that my mom lovingly packs for me. In fact, she keeps the track of what I need to eat all through my day. I eat two rotis with bhajii (vegetable fry) and green salads for lunch. In the evening again, I have to have my fruits and nariyal pani. At night, I relish grilled chicken or else fish with lots of green salads. I drink nariyal pani whenever I am thirsty. It’s the best liquid intake that keeps your body fit and energetic.

Is fasting in your diet system?

No! However, once in a while I live completely on fruits. That way, I keep my system healthy. The system needs a rest once a while just like we humans do.

Do you ever binge?
Yeah of course! Once in a month, I go to my favourite restaurants Basilico or Spices at JW Marriott or Lemon Grass to have all that I have missed because of my regular workout.

What is your all time favourite food?
Sushi and idli chutney made by mom! Oh, I can eat the whole day without batting an eyelid.

What kind of workout schedule you undergo to keep your body in shape?
When I am not shooting, every morning I go for my Kathak dance class and practice for two hours. Salman Khan has been very helpful during Maine Dil Tujhko Diya and taught me how to workout in a correct manner. Five days in a week I go to gym and workout for two hours and then I jog thrice in a week. I also swim a lot whenever I am not shooting. Swimming is one of the best exercises, as it not only helps you to relax but also increases your stamina to a great deal. I really enjoy healthy habits.

What would be your advice on food and fitness for the health conscious?
Try to eat everything but in moderation or else try to mould a diet for yourself. Maintain a lifestyle even in your eating habits. You will really enjoy it. Health wise, at least jog or go for a walk thrice in a week. If you like to workout in gym, try to find fun ways of working out. To remain fit is what everybody loves. Play games like basketball or else swim to be active in your stressful working life.

How do you react about various health messages being bombarded by magazines and media?
I would like to say that one must not get carried away with various products. Try to be natural. One should be aware of the facts and figures of any health-related products before incorporating in one’s system.
