The former Union minister issued a two-paragraph statement, which he later shared on Facebook in the wake of allegations that UPA ministers tried to influence the surgeon who conducted the autopsy on Sunanda’s body at AIIMS in New Delhi.

“From the beginning itself, I requested for a thorough investigation. It would be conducted and concluded rapidly and transparently. The Pushkar family has also taken the same view and we all cooperated with the authorities well.

I reiterate my request to bring this protracted inquiry to a clear and definite conclusion so as to put all speculations to rest,” Tharoor said in the statement.

However, when reporters sought his view here on the latest revelations in the Sunanda Pushkar case, he refused to say anything.

The Kerala BJP has demanded Tharoor’s resignation as a Member of Parliament.
