Suresh Babu passes away

Former ace national athelete Suresh Babu, current manager of the Kerala team at the 34th National Games, died in a hospital in Ranchi on Saturday.

Ranchi: Olympian and 1978 Asian Games gold medallist Suresh Babu, who inspired a lot of youngsters to take up athletics in 1970s and 80s, passed away at the age of 58 in a city hospital.

Former long jumper and chief national athletics coach was declared dead at around 11:30am due to liver cirrhosis after he was rushed to a city hospital where he remained on life-support.
