A case has been registered against Zinic (56), who hails from Trikkakkara in Ernakulam district, under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967, they said.
The arrest was made following a tip-off that Zinic was staying at Kavalamukkatta for the last over five months.
Police said Zinic, a retired KSRTC employee, had confessed that he had come to Nilambur to study the topography and ethnicity of the area.
Zinic had connections with some rationalist organisations and some pamphlets were also recovered, they said.
