A suspected SIMI activist was arrested in Ujjain on Tuesday but his associate managed to escape.
The arrested activist was identified as Aqueel Qureshi, Inspector General of police (Ujjain) Anil Kumar said.
He said the arrest was nothing to do with the Mumbai bomb blasts case.
