Swaminarayan temple priest commits suicide

Police have recovered a suicide note from his room stating that he had decided to end his life on his own.

A priest allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the Swaminarayan temple premises on the outskirts of the city, police said on Monday.

Swami Vajubhai Bhagat took the extreme step on Sunday, they said, adding his body was found hanging in his room on the third floor of the temple premises.

Police have recovered a suicide note from his room stating that he had decided to end his life on his own.

His job in the temple was to pour water over the Idol of Swaminarayan and changing the clothes of the idol every day, police added.
