Tainted former Bihar police chief suspended

The Bihar government on Friday night suspended former state police chief Narayan Mishra on charges of corruption, two days after raids on his Patna house unearthed property worth Rs.6.7 million.

The Bihar government on Friday night suspended former state police chief Narayan Mishra on charges of corruption, two days after raids on his Patna house unearthed property worth Rs.6.7 million.

"Mishra was suspended after a government order," a home department official said.

The raids at the house of Mishra, who was posted as director general of Home Guards, were conducted Wednesday by a team of the vigilance department's CLEAN (Corruption-Linked Efforts for Affirmative Action).

Apart from moveable and immovable property, details five lockers and several bank accounts were found during the raids.
