Take a trip to the desert state
Want to go in for a holiday, unwind the desert state...india Updated: Aug 28, 2010 01:06 IST
My wife and I are planning to go to Udaipur. We would like to spend two nights there, followed by two nights in Nathdwara and Mt Abu with darshan at Ambaji. Can you tell me how to contact reliable taxi operators for the same and what will be the approximate cost of the tour?

Registered taxis hired from the hotel might be more reliable. The journey from Udaipur to Nathdwara takes nearly one hour by road (please check darshan timings). From Nathdwara, take the new express highway. It is very beautiful and perfect for a drive. But do note that you won’t find rest stop on the way, not even a petrol pump. After crossing the Abu road bridge, you can go up to Ambaji (a 45-minute drive) and return to Mt. Abu. The monsoon is the best time to visit.
We are three families planning a six-night stay at McLeodganj, just to unwind. Can you suggest some activities for kids, and for us as well. We have already booked our tickets and confirmed the accommodation. Vasudevan
The best thing to do in McLeodganj is to explore the lovely bylanes. Also, go to the museum inside the Dalai Lama’s palace. Two towns above McLeodganj make for excellent walking trails, but please beware of leopards and carry a torch in the evenings. Also visit the Norbulinka Institute and other Buddhist places down in Dharamshala. Do spend time with the friendly locals and try the local food. Do try the momos!
