They will launch a ‘deep-daan’ campaign on various ponds in support of their demands soon.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, representatives of these organisations highlighted the contribution of RN Singh towards conservation of ancient ponds, ghats and temples during his posting as the PAC Commandant in Varanasi.

The outfits are: Matrakund Samiti, Maa Ganga Sewi Nagrik Samaj, Kendriya Dev Deepawali Maha Samiti, Sri Nagar Kshetra Vikas Samiti, Gangotri Sewa Samiti, Ganga Mahasabha, Jagriti Foundation, Mandakini Sewa Samiti, Pishachmochan Nagarik Samaj, Janata Sangharsh Samiti (Laxmi Kund), Karnaghanta Teerth, Kashi Teerth Purohit Sabha, Samarpan Sansthan, Ram Nagar Ganga Aarti, Assi Ganga Aarti, Jahanvi Sewa Samiti and Bharat Vikas Sangh.

They also outlined the social work done by Singh in Faizabad, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Moradabad, Raipur and Allahabad.

Pt Vagish Dutt Mishra, Dr Shantilal Jain, Ramyash Mishra, Kailash Kaswani, Dr Surendra Singh, Lalit Malviya and Praveen Gupta said Varanasi residents would never forget the efforts of Singh to restore the glory of Kashi by preservation of ancient landmarks.

They alleged that “land sharks of the Baghambhari Gaddi of Allahabad” hatched a conspiracy to trap Singh.

They demanded a transparent probe to identify and punish the guilty.
