Sensing that any talk of reviewing its tie with BJP at this stage might harm its electoral prospect, Nationalist Trinamool Congress on Wednesday reposed faith in the ruling coalition and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee saying that only the NDA under his leadership could fast forward the nation.

''NTC is a partner of NDA and the party believes that only the NDA can lead the nation forward under Vajpayee's dynamic leadership,'' senior NTA leader and spokesman Pankaj Banerjee on Wednesday said.

In an obvious reference to Congress and its allies, Banerjee said that other political dispensations could neither form a government, nor provide better rule.

''Vajpayeeji is the man who can lead the country forward.''

His statement came following speculation in a section of media that NTC might consider snapping ties with NDA if that suited the party.

The speculation gained ground following Banerjee's recent utterances at a meet-the-press programme that 'politics is flexible. What NTC will do in future, the party will sit and think over,' he had stated when asked whether there was any possibility of the Mamata Banerjee-led NTC leaving the NDA in future.

Banerjee had also defended Trinamool's decision to quit the NDA before the state elections in 2001 to ally with Congress and had said that NTC had done so at that time to dislodge the Left Front government from power.
