TDP worker injured in poll-related violence

A TDP worker was hit by a bullet and four others were wounded in a clash between Congress and TDP activists.

A TDP worker was hit by a bullet and four others were wounded in a clash between Congress and TDP activists at Pandatipuram village in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.

The trouble began as Congress candidate Ramreddy Venkatreddya and his supporters, while campaining in the village under Sujjatanagar assembly constituency, were pelted with stones by some TDP workers and supporters of P Madhavi, a TDP candidate.

When the efforts to pacify two rival groups went in vain, the three gunmen escorting Congress nominee opened fire as a result Bhaskar, a TDP worker, recieved bullet injury.

He was admitted to Khammam government hospital, police said adding, earlier three other TDP workers were also injured in stone pelting.

Additional forces have been rushed to the village and situation is under control now, police said.
