Teach lesson to small political outfits, says Sonia

Taking a dig at small political parties, Sonia Gandhi said that they were only serving their own vested interests.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday urged the people of Uttar Pradesh to teach a lesson to small political outfits in the Lok Sabha elections and support Congress to prevent the the BJP from returning to power.

Addressing an election rally here, Gandhi said that the elections had provided a golden opportunity to the electorate to inflict a crushing defeat on the BJP.

Taking a dig at small political parties in the state, she said that these were only serving their own vested interests.

The Congress president talked about the problems being faced by the weavers, farmers and youths and said that the NDA only made false promises during its five-year regime at the Centre.

In her brief address which lasted barely seven minutes, Gandhi appealed to the people to support the Congress to ensure all-round development of the country.
