Chandravati Devi blamed officials at the District Social Welfare Office for not releasing arrears of Rs 2,77,585. She is a craft teacher at Rajkiya Ashram Padhati Vidyalaya (Satomahua). She said the officials had not yet given her the benefits of the revised salary with effect from 1996.
“Besides, officials are not paying my salary since November 2005. I am now facing a financial crisis.”
She said other employees of the school were being paid the revised salary. Her husband Manmohan Das filed an application under the Right to Information Act with the District Social Welfare Office on Tuesday. He said he filed several applications with the authorities concerned, but in vain.
District social welfare officer Bhagwati Gupta said the department had sought funds from the State Government to clear Chandravati Devi’s due. “We will clear her dues as soon as we get the funds,” Gupta said but had no answer as to why the arrears were withheld for so long.
Meanwhile, LP Singh of Birapatti village complained about delay in construction of the main road between Birapatti and Panchakroshi Marg. He said students and farmers were the worst affected by it.
