Sarvjeet Bakshi, a teacher with Vidhya Mandir Public School, Sector 15A, was returning home in her car around 2.15pm on Friday. Ankur Bakshi, her husband, said she had visited a bank in Sector 7 on her way home.

When she got down from her car in front of her Sector 10 DLF area home in Faridabad, two bikers tried snatching her purse. When she resisted, the men began punching her face. Her eyes were swollen beyond recognition. After she fell down, the goons fled with the bag.

The bag contained some cash, a gold ring, cards and documents that were described as important. The victim was taken to the nearby Metro hospital where she is under treatment.

Her family members have lashed out at the police for lawlessness in the area. “It is shocking that the incident took place under the nose of the police station in
Sector 11D, which is just a few meters from the spot where the incident occurred,” Ankur alleged. “It looked as if the goons were following her from the bank,” he added.

Though the police are yet to zero-in on the accused, special teams have been formed to crack the case and apprehend the accused. “Our police teams have visited the victim in the hospital. She said she would provide the details required for making sketches of the accused,” deputy commissioner of police Ballabgarh Raj Kumar Vaishisht said.

The police have also formed special teams of crime investigation agency experts to crack the case. “The teams are working overtime to zero-in on the attackers,” Manoj Kumar, SHO Sector 7, said. The place where the incident occurred falls under the Sector 7 police station.

The victim is under observation. Her condition is stable, her family said.
