DCP Sarang Awad from the Ulhasnagar police station said that 48-year-old Shubranil Goshal, a Central Railway employee, lodged a complaint at the Ulhasnagar police station on Monday evening, claiming that his son had been kidnapped.
Goshal told the police that he had received a call from his son’s mobile number on Monday evening. He was threatened that non-payment of the ransom amount or informing the police would result in his son’s death.
The police interrogated the boy’s friends and realised that he had fallen prey to wrong company. The first name to surface during the interrogation was that of 19-year-old Gladman Yesudas Baguson, a class 12 student at an Ulhasnagar college.
Baguson’s interrogation led the police to Sohan Idranil Ghoshal and Farid Dilavar Sheikh, both class 12 students at the same college in Ulhasnagar.
Balkrishana Patil, investigation officer at the Vithalwadi Police Station said, “The boy had disclosed his plans to his friends. The boy had himself threatened his father and demanded a ransom of Rs3 lakh. He managed to muffle his voice by placing a handkerchief on his mobile phone’s mouthpiece.”
