AN ELDERLY woman was allegedly killed by a teenager living in her neighbourhood who was angry with her for having frequent rows with his mother.
The incident occurred in Gandhi Nagar on the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday. Police said the victim, Sevanti, 58, a resident of 85, Gandhi Nagar, was hit by her neighbour, Anees Khan, 15, with a boulder in the stomach. She was rushed to the hospital but the injuries proved fatal and she succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Police said the teenaged boy entered the house of Sevanti at around 1 am as the door of the latter’s house was ajar. The accused asked the woman why he fought with his mother regularly over petty matters.
He was also angry that Sevanti openly spoke in the locality against his family. After an altercation, Anees picked up a boulder lying nearby and threw it at her. She was hit in the stomach and injured. Local residents gathered on the spot and informed the police.
The victim was rushed to Hamidia Hospital where she succumbed due to the internal injuries. The body has been sent for post-mortem. After the death of her husband, the victim had started living with one, Abbu Khan but lately lived alone.
The accused was arrested and charged with murder.
He is being interrogated. Anees’ father Anwar Khan was a history-sheeter who committed suicide in jail long back. The accused, a juvenile, was found involved in petty thefts in the past, police said. The Gandhi Nagar police are investigating the case.
