Every time there is a bomb blast, politicians term it ‘a shameful act’, ‘an act of cowardice’. But the moot point is how do we prevent incidents like the Mumbai train blasts? It is time serious action is taken to stop cross-border terrorism. There is no point trying to forge relations with our hostile neighbour; history is evidence that nothing fruitful has ever emerged from this.

We know Pakistan is aiding terrorists in all possible ways. No number of speeches by our politicians will heal the sufferings of those who have lost their dear ones. When will our government begin to take effective action against terrorists?

Wishful thinking
AG Noorani in Window of hope (July 11) wants India to forge an agreement to the liking of Pakistan so as to not let a promising moment slip away. This is no argument in favour of legitimising illegal occupation of territory.
Noorani overlooks the perils inherent in the dissolution of borders between India and Pakistan and unduly phrases Pervez Musharraf for his flexibility in putting aside the UN resolutions over Kashmir. How can India as a sovereign nation accept joint control over its territory?
