“The local police and the CISF personnel are not making any distinction between a personal or official vehicle to interrogate the occupants and carrying out elaborate checks of the vehicles when they are arriving in front of the airport terminal building”, a senior airport official told HT Lucknow Live.
He said any argument by driver or the occupants of any vehicle with the securitymen would lead to the vehicle being impounded and taken far away from the airport area for further checks.
“The securitymen are behaving politely with the arrivals at the terminal building but any arguments with them to avoid getting away with the mandatory security checks could invite serious problems for everybody”, the official said.
The passengers have been requested not to carry any bottles, bags or containers with liquid containing in them such as deodorants, colognes or liquid soap while in the departure area not even mineral water bottles, he said.
Since, Thursday evening the security personnel had been checking every baggage item on X-rays and also hand baggage. Quite a number of passengers who were carrying perfume and deodorant bottles were asked to open the bags and deposit the same with the security personal during baggage checks. The smaller items such as pens, mobile handsets, laptops, electronic storage devices are also being checked thoroughly before being cleared by the security personnel.
Moreover, except airport personnel deployed on duties on the tarmac, no other employee is allowed to venture on the tarmac area without the permission of the CISF staff, the official said.
Likewise, security was also beefed up at the Charbagh Railway Station . ADG (GRP) B K Bhalla said additional forces, metal detectors and dog squad have been pressed into services
