Terry Duffin made his international debut against New Zealand. In 2005-06 there was a bitter player dispute, where Duffin was one of the last left standing, and after signing a new contract with the board was appointed to succeed Tatenda Taibu as team captain.

In the Caribbean he played a dependable role but showed no signs of being able to score runs at anywhere near the rate needed in ODIs. So much so that he was dismissed as captain on the eve of the series against Bangladesh in July 2006.
