Indonesia, 2002
Director: Nan Triveni Achnas

Budi and his cousin Rosa are given the responsibility of raising the national flag in school. As part of their duties, they must wash and iron the flag over the weekend to have it crisp and clean for Monday’s routine flag-raising ceremony. Their adventure begins when a neighbour accidentally takes away the bucket in which they have left the flag to soak. Achnas makes subtle political statements in undertones that run throughout the film, one of which is the metaphor of the flag being constantly washed.
