Theatre festival from March 27

THEATRE GROUP ?Rangadhaar? is organising a seven-day theatre festival to mark the World Theatre Day from March 27 at Bharat Bhavan here. The festival would include a series of comedy plays this year.

THEATRE GROUP ‘Rangadhaar’ is organising a seven-day theatre festival to mark the World Theatre Day from March 27 at Bharat Bhavan here. The festival would include a series of comedy plays this year.

Rangadhaar’s organiser and theatreperson Rakesh Sethi informed that human beings are getting more prone to depression while space for mirth and joy is shrinking in one’s life. The theatre festival aims at encouraging laughter through these plays. The festival would commence on March 27 with Ashok Bulani’s comedy play ‘Saalgirah’.

Theatre personality and film actor Rajeev Verma would act in the play. Shikhar Samman recipient Ranjit Kapoor of the Lucknow-based theatre group Darpan has directed the political-satire “Ek Sansadiya Samiti Ki Uthak Baithak” that would be staged the next day.

Senior theatre artiste Nazeer Qureshi-directed play ‘Bichchu’ would be staged on the third day of the festival. Manoj Nair’s play – a comedy mime ‘Third Flag’ would be staged on March 30 followed by Alakhnandan’s play ‘Supanwa ke Sapna’ on March 31.

Noble laureate Dario Fo written and Sanjay Mehta directed play ‘Can’t Pay! Won’t Pay!’ will be staged on April 1. The concluding day of the theatre festival would witness Vibha Mishra’s political satire play ‘Gud Gobar Ganj’.
